Above is the testimony of a migrant worker rescued by MSS.


 Mr. Ajay prasad a migrant labour from Latehar district of Jharkhand. He is from Adivasi background and his family includes his mother Smt Kunti devi, his wife Babita devi, three children Anand(M) 11 yrs, Suhana(f) 8yr and Arpita(F) 4yrs. For his livelihood and work, engaged in Masson job, he is labouring for railway a under pass is being constructed by the contractor. To do this work a labour group form Jharkhand and Bihar has been placed here near the site in camps to do this work, they are 26 labours from Jharkahand and 14 labour Bihar and Delhi.  

Before the lockdown announcement they were working and earning their livelihood and supporting their family by sending the money who are there in their home district.  

But post lockdown there was no work no pay since 21st March’20 said by Mr. Ajay prasad, the situation was worsened when there was no means of transportation and their money vanished on occupying the essential item and the contractor was unable to feed their demand. To feed 40 labour at a point with the required meals with no source is really a big challenge a few amounts of groceries were given by the support from local administration but it was a drop in the bucket Mr. Ajay added.  

However, coping this challenged and finding ways to survive Mr. Ajay googled the local NGOs and approached Meerut Seva Samaj on telephone.  

Therefore, the labours were provided with sufficient food kits and have their meals for at least 20 to 25 days.. Mr. Ajay has given the good feedback on the quality and quantity of the ration given to them. Labours expressed their thanks towards Meerut Seva Samaj for identifying them and supported with ration for their basic need to survive.
